Guffaws over the title of this entry aside, breast cancer is no laughing matter. And with Breast Cancer Awareness Month squarely upon us, I'm happy to report that numerous wineries are spearheading initiatives in October to help spread the word and stem the suffering associated with this terrible disease. Read on for highlights of wineries with the most interesting - and interesting-sounding - breast cancer support programs.
Breast Support
The motto of Cleavage Creek Cellars is "celebrating life and wine," and it's a mantra the winery's owner, Budge Brown, makes good on by way of donating 10% of all wines sales to breast cancer research. Click here to check out the heart-warming Cleavage Creek story on Good Morning America .

Founded by seasoned wine execs with a hankering to give back, Hope Wines donates 50% of all profits to help fight breast cancer, AIDS and autism. With recent press coverage in popular weekly mag OK!, it looks like the new brand (which launched in '07) is on its way to drumming up some serious proceeds for breast cancer. Bravo!

Family-run American Roots Winery was founded in support of Lori Ondaro - a single mother of three - who was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer for the second time in 2005. Ten percent of the winery's sales go directly to organizations that improve the lives of breast cancer victims and further the search for a cure. Read our exclusive coverage of Lori's brave battle here .

For the second vintage in a row, Rutherford-based Peju Province Winery is donating 25% of sales from its Peju Pink Wine - a proprietary blend crafted expressly for this cause - to breast cancer charities.   The winery made 350 cases of the newly-released 2007 vintage, which can be purchased online or at the winery. In all, it's a solid support effort that other wineries would do well to emulate.
