kunde_ecotour.jpgWhen it comes to sustainable wine practice there are those who talk the talk and there are those who walk the walk. For those interested in know more about the latter, there is  Kunde Estate Winery & Vineyards (www.kunde.com). The winery that has been a staple in California's Wine Country for a century has also been farming sustainably for five generations. And they are more than happy to show you how it works.
Now, as the weather begins turning favorable for hikes on the hillside, Kunde is offering a program that provides unique perspective to its visitors. Kunde's Sustainable Winegrowing Hikes are guided tours the 1,850-acre estate, across beautiful terrain, and allows guests to catch up-close glimpses of what it really means to farm sustainably and how that translates into a better wine in the bottle.

Meanwhile, the Green Eco Tour is guided by non other than Jeff Kunde, a 4th generation winegrower from the Estate. This tour gains some 1,400 feet in altitude and includes some impressive views while Jeff expounds on the qualities of the terrain and what that means to the winemaking process. The hike concludes with wine tasting and a lunch while overlooking the Sonoma Valley. This is rare opportunity to have close interaction not just with nature, but also with winemaking expertise. I highly recommend it. Tours are scheduled throughout summer. Contact the winery to learn more and to book your personal commune with wine and nature.
