World class cuisine meets cutting edge truffle science at Napa Valley Truffle Festival January 18-21, 2013!

Truffles anyone? - not the chocolate kind, the real thing: black Périgord truffles - aka "black diamonds." These rare and delectable fungi will again be the center of attention at the third annual Napa Truffle Festival - bringing together a unique gathering of leading truffle cultivation experts and scientists, mycologists, special guests from the food and wine world, and internationally-renowned Michelin star chefs who will discuss, examine, probe, demonstrate and, finally, prepare the truffles to be feasted upon for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Festival kicks off with an exclusive welcome reception on the elegant terrace at La Toque where guests will sip local wines and sample an array of delectable truffle appetizers while hobnobbing with truffle experts, food gurus and the guest star chefs (sans toques).

nvTruffleFestival_KitchenDiningScene.jpgSaturday programs begin with a keynote by Colman Andrews, co-founder of Saveur and editorial director of The Daily Meal; followed by the scientific-grower seminars presented by American Truffle Company's Managing Director Robert Chang and Chief Scientist Dr. Paul Thomas, a leading world authority on truffle cultivation. The day's program includes an excursion to Robert Sinskey Vineyards' truffle orchard with Rico, everyone's favorite truffle hunting dog, on hand to sniff things out (petting allowed).  A superb truffle lunch and wine pairing will be hosted by the incomparable Silver Oak Cellars and prepared by the winery's own Chef Dominic Orsini.

At the heart of the Festival is the Saturday night Truffles & Wine Dinner, hosted by Michelin star Chef Ken Frank of La Toque, featuring a multicourse truffle menu - each course prepared by a Michelin star chef - and perfectly paired with wines. In addition to Chef Ken, this year's star chef lineup also includes Nicola Chessa of Valentino Restaurant, Santa Monica; Marco Gubbiotti of La Bastiglia in Spello, Italy; and Michael Tusk of Quince, San Francisco.

nvTruffleFestival_guy.jpgNew this year! - Festival-goers will rise and shine for an exciting Sunday morning wild mushroom forage led by renowned mycophagist David Campbell: "We'll see what we find and find what we see! With a little luck, perhaps we'll find Porcini, Hedgehogs, Chanterelles, or Candy Caps..." accompanied by Dr. Paul Thomas and local mycologist Stephanie Jarvis. This day's truffle lunch, hosted at the beautiful, historic Beringer winery, will begin with a cooking demo by Chef Nicola Chessa--offering a rare opportunity to learn from a top Michelin star chef.

Monday concludes the weekend with a lively Festival Marketplace at Oxbow Public Market - showcasing the local wine, artisanal vendors and specialty food products of the Napa Valley.  No charge for admission - everyone is welcome! Come see cooking demos, shop for truffle accoutrements and sample a diverse assortment of dishes prepared by the Marketplace chefs--from truffled pizza, enchiladas, charcuterie, sliders, and aioli fries, to business as usual for café, tea, spices, cheese, oysters, fresh produce, olive oil, fine chocolate, ice cream, pastries, home accessories and more. Wine tasting tickets available for $25. Plus, a chance to win a black diamond (truffle, that is)!
