Ceja Tasting Rm2.jpgBy Deirdre Bourdet

In keeping with their reputation as the first family of fun, the Cejas are throwing a Halloween bash this year in their downtown tasting bar. This means far more than special pricing on the wine... though there will be by the glass discounts and a healthy 30% off all their bottles for the evening, including those to take home. No, Halloween with the Cejas means music, passion, drama, and dancing.
Amelia+Pics+Phot+Shoot+for+Tasting+Magazine+July+2009+031[1].jpgThe Ceja tasting room hosts salsa lessons and dancing every Saturday night, and this Halloween will be no exception. Rank beginners trying to figure out what to do with their hips should come early for the 7:30 lesson. An intermediate class follows at 8:30 for those with more of a clue, and the real dancing starts after that. All the dance classes are free, and no partner is no problem.

DJ Cocoroco will rock the house with salsa, meringue, and cumbia until closing, but at some point I suspect will pause for the Halloween costume contest and wine raffle. No doubt some fine Ceja libations will feature in the prize list, and no doubt Ariel and/or Amelia Ceja will charm the attendees into getting wild and crazy as the evening goes on. Their excellent wines will also help keep spirits high, and zombies at bay.

With the new Avia Hotel down the street, and the Westin and River Terrace Inn just a short ride away, it's oh so easy get a room and make it a night.
