It is time to shine the harsh light of investigative journalism on the mysterious Three Twins operation and their "inconceivably delicious" ice cream.

First shocking revelation: the three Twins are not genetically related, nor do two of them share a body. Neal and Carl Gottlieb are just twin brothers from Marin, and Liz is Carl's wife (and another twin). Neal is the tall, curly-haired twin who started and runs the business. Carl let Neal live with him and Liz as the ice cream dream was taking flight, thus inspiring the company's inconceivable name. (FYI, Carl also inspired an unofficial, off-the-menu sundae that involves a great deal of chocolate sauce... ask for it at the San Francisco store.)
Second revelation: this business aims to change the world.  Not through the creation of bizarre, never-before-seen, patent-worthy flavors, but simply by creating a sustainable and organic product that is so universally appealing and delicious that everyone will buy it, irrespective of their prior convictions on organics or green business practices.  Neal's stint in the Peace Corps reveals itself here, as it does in the business's charitable giving policies--and his own impressive collection of tattered footwear.  He is now in the process of raising money to build a larger production facility in Petaluma to service the wholesale business and three Bay Area stores.

In addition to the four core flavors (Madagascar Vanilla, Bittersweet Chocolate, Mint Confetti, and Milk and Cookies), Neal indulges his worldly outlook and globe-trotting palate in the rotating flavors dished out at the scoop shops. On any given day you may see Roasted Peach, Dad's Cardamom, Stracciatella, Balsamic Vinegar, Crème Fraîche, Mocha, Pistachio, or Strawberry Je Ne Sais Quoi.  (Pourtant je sais bien que c'est du vinaigre balsamique dedans...)

So is it inconceivably delicious? As I cannot comprehend what that would mean, I can only say that whatever the flavor, every bite delivers. Perfect texture, pure cream flavor, and - hallelujah! - loaded with the goods you're after. There's no digging for a pitiful crumb of soggy pistachio, or buried veins of imagined chocolate ore. Fresh whole nuts, galaxies of crisp chocolate shell, and mountains of organic fruit make the difference in every mouthful.
